More than 4,500 miles separate the small Finnish village of Kuusamo, where photographer Meeri Koutaniemi grew up, and Kenya’s Maasai villages, where she ended up chronicling the lives of women who had experienced or escaped genital mutilation and child marriage.
Disabilities don’t stop Kenyan dancers

Photographer Mia Collis has been documenting the Pamoja Dance Group since she saw them perform two years ago in Nairobi, Kenya. Pamoja, which means “together” in Swahili, provides a creative outlet for dancers with disabilities while advocating for changes in public policy and perception.
