Socotra Island has been referred to as the “Galapagos of the Indian Ocean” for its remarkable biodiversity. More than a third of its 825 plant species, 90% of its reptile species and 95% of its land snail species are not found anywhere else. Photographer Catalina Martin-Chico visited the island off the coast of Yemen.

Pepe Rubio Larrauri’s series of pictures from Aden, Yemen, documents the lives of some of the 20,000 displaced people who have settled in public school buildings after fleeing violence during the Arab Spring. More than 150,000 people in south Yemen have been displaced since May 2011.
