Jocelyn's mother was deported three years ago, leaving her and her father to take care of her sister and four brothers. Impressed by the 16-year-old girl’s strength, photographer Ester Jove Soligue turned her camera toward the family to capture their plight.

Pepe Rubio Larrauri’s series of pictures from Aden, Yemen, documents the lives of some of the 20,000 displaced people who have settled in public school buildings after fleeing violence during the Arab Spring. More than 150,000 people in south Yemen have been displaced since May 2011.

Photographer Viviana Peretti recently completed a series on animals in captivity at the Bronx Zoo and New York Aquarium. She visited the exhibits at least twice a week for three months starting in January. Before this project, she had never stepped foot in a zoo. She was always opposed to the idea.
