In Sydney’s “Wild West” suburbs live immigrants from all over the world. George Voulgaropoulos didn’t have a goal when he began photographing the western outer edges of Australia’s largest city. It’s a personal story of getting to know the immigrants and learning about their cultures.
Photographer David Maurice Smith began his career in social work after college as an outreach worker who dealt with indigenous high school youths in Canada. After six years, he felt burnt out and needed a change of pace. Four years later, he moved to Australia and began documenting Aboriginals in Wilcannia.
